Structure
The church is guided by three figures who together form the Triad.
Together they share insights into universal awareness and the contradictory and often
absurd behavior of some of this reality's inhabitants. The members of the
church make up the ranks of the Exempt. The
Immune are members of the Church who have applied to become
legally ordained ministers of the Church. Together the Exempt and the
Immune make up the landscape of the church and relate to the Church as a common
communication channel for individuals who eschew
traditional organized religion but are aware of life mysteries that cannot
be accounted for by simple materialist explanations. The Church also embraces the power of satire and does not subscribe
to the sanctimonious distortion inherent in many religions which divides
the reverent from the irreverent.
Beliefs
We are a confederacy of people who believe in very open and
expanded ideas. We embrace all belief systems, east, west, north and
south... as they try to understand and interpret the lessons to be learned from
this form of existence. We see the
similarities rather than the differences between them.
We are however amazed at some of the harmful dogma which has solidified around
many belief systems and find a general sense of exaggerated
self importance attached to their efforts. Our unique
construct of ideas are expressed in The Greater and Lesser
Tenets, and are based on a synthesis of universal concepts and life
experiences. They carry
the formative, contradictory, tension of the life force and
acknowledge the cosmic joke inherent to this system.
History
The Church of the Future was founded in Atlanta Georgia in 1978 by C. B. Mills who
then enlisted the insights of G. W. Kennedy and M. H. Morris to help
define and guide the church's course. While traditional ceremonies
and meetings are not part of its structure, special events have been staged over
the years such as the
Crestview Wrecking Ball, The Elvis Piano Demolition and The Dynamite Workshops.
Information
was formerly shared through the Dialator, a Church of the
Future publication. Now after some 20 odd years, the organization
has embarked on an expansion of its presence with electronic communication.
The Church of the Future is a unique non-denominational entity
and is not affiliated with any other organization or group.
The Future
"I see the Church growing into a gross, megalithic organized efficient
and highly sensory mobile society, creating a domination sphere of influence, on
a galaxy wide scale".
W. H. Morris
Members
The Exempt
The Exempt are made up of members from
many different states.
They are people who find
resonance with
the Church's broad based beliefs...beliefs which seek to explore the core mysteries of
existence beyond simple materialistic or nihilistic interpretations...beliefs
which offer resistance to the rigid, limited and many times self important dogmas of
organized religions.
Anyone is welcome to associate themselves with the
ranks of Exempt and no one is expected to adhere to any particular belief or
system. What you do or do not subscribe to is up to you and can be
constructed from an array of sources.
Membership is free. If you would like to become a member simply go to the
Membership page, fill out the form and submit the information to the
church. In this era of family values, think of the advantages of
deflecting welcome wagons and prying neighbors with this ready response ... ..
"I'm not a
member of any organized religion, I belong to the Church of the Future".
The Immune
Church members may also apply to become one of the
Immune.
This level of participation in the Church confers the status of ordained
minister and entitles those given Immunity to perform legal wedding ceremonies
as well as other officiating functions enjoyed by any other member.
Immunity comes at a price, but along with an official ordainment certificate,
new candidates receive the full immunity package including the Church's
exclusive black clerical shirt, stickers, lapel identification and "Lie
about supplies"
